Evangelism raises many questions, here are some that you might be wondering about or that you might have previously heard being asked.
Evangelism is a Command, Not an Option
Jesus gave the Great Commission in Matthew 28:19–20: “Go and make disciples of all nations…” Evangelism isn’t a suggestion or merely a ministry gift—it’s a direct command from our risen Lord to all His followers. Every Christian is called to participate in spreading the gospel.
The Gospel is the Power of God for Salvation
Romans 1:16 reminds us that the gospel “is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes.” This means the message itself carries divine power. We are not responsible for saving people—we simply deliver the message that God uses to transform lives.
The Holy Spirit Empowers Our Witness
Acts 1:8 says, “You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses…” Evangelism is not done in our own strength. God gives us His Spirit to empower, guide, and embolden us as we testify about Christ.
Evangelism Flows from a Heart of Love
What the Bible says about evangelism is never separated from the command to love. In 2 Corinthians 5:14, Paul writes, “For Christ’s love compels us…” Love for God and love for others should drive our desire to share the gospel—not guilt or duty alone.
Evangelism Involves Both Words and Actions
While sharing the gospel message is essential, our lives must reflect the grace we proclaim. 1 Peter 3:15–16 encourages believers to share their hope “with gentleness and respect, keeping a clear conscience.” Our character and conduct are part of our witness.
Evangelism Is About Making Disciples, Not Just Converts
Jesus didn’t say, “Go and get decisions.” He said, “Go and make disciples.” Evangelism includes helping others grow in their faith, not just leading them to a moment of decision. This long-term view reflects the heart of God for genuine transformation.
God Prepares the Hearts of People
In Acts 16, God opened Lydia’s heart to respond to Paul’s message. This shows that evangelism is a partnership with God. He goes before us, preparing hearts to hear and respond. Our role is to be faithful and obedient—He handles the results.
Every Christian Has a Role in Evangelism
Ephesians 4:11–12 says leaders equip the saints “for the work of ministry.” Evangelism is not reserved for pastors or missionaries. God uses ordinary people in everyday places to reach others with the good news of Jesus.
Rejection Is Part of the Mission
Jesus Himself was rejected, and He told His disciples the same would happen to them (John 15:18–20). Sharing the gospel won’t always result in acceptance, but our responsibility is to be faithful, not necessarily successful by human standards.
The Glory of God Is the Ultimate Goal
Psalm 96:3 says, “Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous deeds among all peoples.” Evangelism isn’t ultimately about increasing church attendance—it’s about spreading the fame of Jesus Christ and inviting people to worship Him.

THE BANNER OF BETHLEHEM (AFRICA) – THE SERVANTS BANNER
Bethlehem in Hebrew: Bet = House, Lechem = Bread
Meaning Bethlehem = The House Of Bread.
Africa was also the place that nourished Egypt for all these centuries and Africa’s name in the Spirit is also Bethlehem.
So is the Bethlehem in Israel, which is the east gate of Jerusalem directly connected across Africa to the Bethlehem here in the eastern Free State in South Africa.
Main colour = Gold; the wheat that stands on the fields – this is the bread, the wheat that will feed Africa and the world, but this is also the wheat that stands white on the fields, ripe for the harvest scripture.
The Triangle = Indicate the Trinity of God
Golden ring around it = Glory of God in His Trinity.
Yellow = “God delights in you” and it also means “Joy”.
Everything within this triangle works together and means that we rule with Jesus from heavenly places, “To be seated in heavenly places” and “To be christ-minded”
The top line is of Hessian – like sack = Humility
Therefore “The servants banner”. This summarizes the humility of Africa as well as the humility and dedication of the workers.
On top of this hessian strip are bells that indicate Worship. We can only be fully humble when we worship. “Worship is a state of your heart in the presence of god”
On top of the hessian strip are the Tassels of the 5-fold Ministry.
= These ministries will operate from heavenly places, meaning in command of Abba Father in full humility, focused on service.
• Olive green = Apostolic
• Lilac = Teachers
• Green = Shepherds
• Brown = Evangelists
• Purple = prophetic
Beneath the hessian strip there are three strips that tells:
Red – the Blood of the Lamb, the redemptioning power of this that the workers are going to “Apply”/apply over the world – “To apply the blood” – (Anointing oil – hyssop)
Blue – Living Water Streams flowing through africa
Green – The New Life that is going to come to establishment
Wider olive green strip with an old gold strip on top
- Olive green = Apostolic
- Old gold = Anointing/ the Anointing Oil
i.e. We are called by Abba Father himself and anointed to do the apostolic ministry in Africa.
Then at the point there is a triple symbolism that explains the meaning and serious importance of Bethlehem.
1) A hessian block
This is the sack that spreads the wheat. Bethlehem is the House of Bread. Jesus is the bread of life that feeds us. Jesus was also layed in a manger, i.e. The place from which the animals were feeded. i.e. Jesus is the bread of life that was born in the house of bread that will feed the world – Africa
2) Red ribbon
This indicates the Blood of the Lamb. The most perfect lamb that had to be sacrificed for us. The lambs of Bethlehem usually grazed in the desert outside the city, but the lambs that were raised as sacrifices for the sacrifices during Passover were raised specially in Bethlehem so that they could remain perfect and kept sacrifices to be the perfect sacrifices. In meaning, Jesus is the lamb killed for us in which no fault could be found – the most perfect paschool lamb that had to be born in Bethlehem.
3) Ring
The right to redemption also receives shape in bethlehem. From judah and tamar, through to Ruth and boas whose entire story took place in bethlehem.
Both are also in the ancestry of jesus christ. Meaning this is where it did not have the potential to bear fruit but is given the potential to bear fruit.
Front point of the triangle = white tassel = the call of haima christou
– cleans and sanctifies the bride of christ.
Right around the triangle = bells and the pomegranes are also alternating
Like the clothes of the priests who ministered in the temple and it says again– to have a mind of Christ.
Pomegranes = the sleep of the bride in song of God
Bells = the Voice of God to which we are obedient.
The orange right around the banner = fire of God that leads us ahead.
– our worshippers who open the way for us.
At the top is the rainbow tassel also with pomegranates and bells.
The rainbow indicates the promises of God as well as the covenant he has with each of us and in which we stand and move in this precious call of ours.
The banner is fixed on a wooden stick.
This wood is the cross on which Jesus laid his life for us.
Meaning – Jesus is our banner!
